HI! I’m DuVäl…a simple guy from the small town of Critz, VA. 
 

When I was growing up, I thought I would be an actor. I had dreams of being on the big screen, traveling the world, making movies and schmoozing with socialites. 
 

But as my time in high school came to a close, I decided I wanted to go into the medical field, more specifically, into Neurology–to study and treat the brain. So, I enrolled into college as a double major/double minor, in Biology+Spanish / Chemistry+Leadership.
 

But, as life would have it, a few things changed. I left school after three years, ended up moving to NJ, worked in NYC for a short stint, then landed in the DC Metro region, where I’ve been ever since. 
 

My introduction to the home industry came when I landed a coveted position at California Closets (CC), leaders in premium and luxury space-management in 2005. I established a twelve-year (12) long foundation, centered around design-organization, spatial planning and project administration. I ended this amazing career as the Design+Sales Manager, overseeing the entire team for the DC Metro area: all design-training, project reviews, product ordering, and acted as the CAD+Product Specialist for the franchise.
 

During my time there, I returned to school to get my Bachelor's degree in Interior Design. And in the fall of 2017, I launched DuVäl Design, LLC (DDLLC) as a full-service interior design firm, which began with one-room deliverables but quickly turned into completely custom homes. 
 

In my time in the industry, I have been featured in Architectural Digest, Business of Home, Reveal Magazine, The Washington Post, Home&Design Magazine, and others. I have been honored to be named “The One to Watch” and “Hot Talent”. And currently, I serve on the Interior Design Advisory Council for Marymount University.
 

But I would be remiss to not give a HUGE thanks to my lovingly supportive wife, Sara, who is more than I could have (or would have) ever dared to ask for! As a former inner-city Baltimore firefighter and flight paramedic for the The US Dept of Defense (DOD), she is immensely talented in all she does, and is the inspiration for me to do better, to be better, and to offer my best self, to everyone I meet!  I am truly blessed!!
